Great Barrington Arts Market (GBAM) is a curated outdoor market featuring local and regional handmade gifts and products alongside the Great Barrington Farmer’s Market (GBFM).
GBAM offers visitors the opportunity to buy unique art and craft made by local artisans in a variety of media and price ranges. For 29 years the Great Barrington Farmers Market has made beautiful local food more accessible to residents and visitors alike. Both markets are located on 18 Church Street, from 9am-1pm on Saturdays this summer.
GBAM seeks to bring local artists directly to market with potential customers and adds another exciting destination to Great Barrington’s already vibrant Saturday mornings. Our downtown location makes it even easier and more convenient to enjoy shopping for local gifts.
Market founders Kathyn Burkle and Molly de St André are both artists (of KathrynBee Designs and Moho Designs/Petit Pilou) who loved the idea of helping connect other local craftspeople with a viable market opportunity and wanted to see Great Barrington’s outdoor Saturday market expand. Now GBAM market managers Molly de St André and Kristen Kanter (of JK Custom Furniture & Design) are taking the vision to a new level, with an expanded group of local & regional makers. They believe that the Farmer’s Market shopper recognizes how important it is to support the local economy and that a venue for artists to sell their work directly to the community is an obvious sister market for the Great Barrington Farmer’s Market. In a community where so many residents believe in the importance of keeping dollars local, GBAM and GBFM offer locals and tourists another fun and interesting weekend activity and has become a summer Saturday tradition.
The market also includes a craft tent for children of all ages, offering a different project each week for children to participate in. Crafts are free, in a variety of media, process oriented, and open to children 2 and older. Parents can observe or get in on the fun! The kids craft tent is open from 10:30-12:30 Saturdays through spring and summer.
The Arts Market will be held every Saturday, May through October, and will feature 11 local artists each week including MoHo Designs, Petit Pilou, JK Custom Furniture and Design, Berkshire Four Poster, Ben Evans Ceramics, The Peach Tree, Lineflax & Roving, Dancing Bare Soap and many others in media including ceramics, skincare, jewelry, textile/clothing design, woodworking, painting, printmaking and fiber arts.
