TORRINGTON — Staff members at Community Health & Wellness Center of Greater Torrington recently made a delivery to the Winsted Salvation Army of more than 50 hats filled with toiletries and personal essentials, which were distributed to those in need “as a gesture of good will for the holidays,” members said.

“All the hats and essentials were donated by our employees and members of the board of directors,” members said. “Each donation was individually packed in a cellophane bag, tied with a ribbon, and a card that says ‘Hats on to Winsted! We care about you!’”

According to its website, the Community Health and Wellness Center of Greater Torrington is committed to keeping members of its communities healthy. “In a compassionate, high quality and patient-centered environment, services are accessible and provided without discrimination, with cultural competence, and where all people matter regardless of their ability to pay. Through coalitions, advocacy and sound fiscal management, these services will be sustained over time” according to the statement .

The center, located on Migeon Avenue in Torrington, recently opened an in-house pharmacy and has added a medical director and new staff.

Its satellite locations include FISH of Torrington, 332 South Main St., Torrington; Sullivan Senior Center, 88 East Albert St., Torrington; The Open Door Soup Kitchen, 160 Main St., Winsted; Torrington Soup Kitchen, 220 Prospect St., Torrington; Torrington Middle School, 200 Middle School Road, Torrington; and Oliver Wolcott Technical School, 75 Oliver St., Torrington.
