WOODBURY — A former Board of Education member Edward De Cortin will seek re-election to the Region 14 Board at a special election Friday, March 5.

There will be a Special District Meeting of Regional School District 14 in the Gymnasium of Mitchell Elementary School, 14 School Street, Woodbury.

In his announcement, De Cortin cited his three goals:

“Identify and implement common-sense solutions to Region 14 challenges;

“Ensure solutions that are fiscally responsible, preserving maximum allocations to teaching and learning;

“Develop a vision for the future that builds on our existing, solid foundation.”

DeCortin is a registered Republican who was nominated by the Republican Town Committee for this position.

In his statement, De Cortin says that “the current administration has filled gaps, some glaring, in Region operations. Students have access to solid curricula, accomplished teaching staff, services, and social learning opportunities that are creating a new generation of responsible citizens prepared to face future global challenges.”

“I’m asking for voter’ support so that my skills can be used to better communicate all the good happening in Region 14 while honestly confronting the remaining challenges.” said De Cortin.
