WOODBURY — Community Theatre at Woodbury kicks off its 2020 season with its production of “Rumors” by Neil Simon, directed by Ed Bassett and produced by Dennis Walsh.
Performances are scheduled for Jan. 10-12 and Jan. 17-19, at the Woodbury Town Hall, 5 Mountain Road.
Ed Bassett, guest director, is managing director of Phoenix Stage Company, Oakville.
The story: At a large, tastefully-appointed Sneden's Landing townhouse, the Deputy Mayor of New York has just shot himself. Though only a flesh wound, four couples are about to experience a severe attack of Farce. Gathering for their tenth wedding anniversary, the host lies bleeding in the other room, and his wife is nowhere in sight. His lawyer, Ken, and wife, Chris, must get "the story" straight before the other guests arrive. As the confusions and mis-communications mount, the evening spins off into classic farcical hilarity.
Refreshments are available before the performances and during intermissions. A drawing will be held throughout the run of the show; proceeds benefit the Woodbury Food Bank. The lucky person need not be present when the winning ticket is drawn during intermission on Sunday, January 19th.
Tickets are $20 for adults and $16 for seniors/youth, are available at http://www.ctaw-ct.org/, in person at the Parks and Rec House (7 Mountain Road, Woodbury), Woodbury Senior Center, 265 Main Street South, or by calling 203-695-7107 Doors open at 7 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.
CTAW’s mission is to foster an environment that promotes Theatre Arts within the greater Woodbury community. CTAW is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit run entirely by volunteers.
