Wisdom House in Litchfield to celebrate 70th with interactive art exhibit

One of the Daughters of Wisdom. An interactive art exhibit commemmorating their 70th anniversary will open on May 18.

LITCHFIELD — On Saturday, May 18, the Marie Louise Trichet Art Gallery at Wisdom House, 229 East Litchfield Road, Litchfield will open a one of a kind interactive art exhibit, “The Enduring Presence of Wisdom Through the Years” celebrating 70 Years of the Daughters of Wisdom in Litchfield.

This special exhibit will also commemorate the 25th Year of the Marie Louise Trichet Art Gallery at Wisdom House.

The Gallery will open at 3:30 p.m. In addition to the usual display of historical and contemporary photos and artifacts, an application link will be available for smart phones, enabling the still photos to morph into “live” video stories of focusing on the past, present and future of the Daughters of Wisdom ministries.

There will also be a panel discussion with several members of the Daughters of Wisdom, including former Administrator of Wisdom House, Rosemarie Greco and Provincial Head, Catherine Sheehan among others.

The Daughters of Wisdom originated in 18th Century France and founded the U.S. Province in 1949 with the purchase of the former Spruce Brook Farm in East Litchfield. Originally, the property was used as a convent and novitiate.

Following the presentations there will be a reception for the public. The exhibit will run until August 17.
