Roxbury >> The Roxbury Congregational Church will be holding their 12th Annual “Art in the Meetinghouse,” a Juried Art Show the weekend of June 16 to 18.

The show includes over 100 works of art from western Connecticut area artists. Works are included from the categories of watercolor, acrylic, oil, pastels, printmaking, mixed media, fine craft, sculpture and graphics.

There will be numerous awards presented on Friday evening at 7:30 PM during the Opening Reception at the church. The Best in Show award is a $1500 cash award.

The show will be open from 6 to 9 pm on Friday, June 16; from 10 am to 5 pm on June 17; and concludes on Sunday, June 18 from 1 to 4 pm. For additional information please call Charles Meade at 860-355-1584 or visit the church website

All works are for sale. Proceeds support the mission activities of the church. “Art makes a wonderful gift for any occasion,” said Charlie Meade, one of the shows organizers. “Each year we have so many wonderful high quality works of art, in all price ranges, submitted for the show,” he said.

This year’s Juror for the show is Peter Seltzer. Peter’s paintings in oil and pastel have been exhibited at numerous public venues including the Butler Institute of American Art. He has also shown at the New Britain Museum of American Art, the Noyes Museum of Art, National Arts Club, Canton Museum of Art, National Academy of Design and the Salmagundi Club. His work is in the permanent collections of the Butler Institute of American Art, the New Britain Museum of American Art, Harvard University and the New Haven Paint and Clay 100+ year collection.

Many in depth articles about his work have appeared in American Artist Magazine, the Artist’s Magazine, Pastel Journal and Connecticut Magazine. His paintings have also been included in several fine art books such as The Best of Pastel 1 and 2.

He has been honored with the designation Master Pastelist by the Pastel Society of America. Peter has received over 100 awards in international exhibitions.
