Litchfield teen to compete in pageant

Ashlyn Manuel

LITCHFIELD — Ashlyn Manuel, 15 and a sophomore at Litchfield High School, will be competing in the Miss Connecticut Outstanding Teen pageant on June 9 at the Waterbury Palace Theater.

She is the current Miss Southern Connecticut’s Outstanding Teen 2018 and her platform of concern is called “Stranger Danger.”

Ashlyn is a 2nd degree black belt and is an advocate for the National Center for Missing Children and enjoys teaching self defense techniques to local youth. She believes every child should know how to defend themselves in dangerous

situations.

Ashlyn’s talent for the competition will be a musical theater dance entitled “ I can hear the bells” from the musical “Hairspray.” She is a competitive dancer at Triple Threat Dance Company in Wolcott, and has been dancing for over 10 years.

She is also an assistant teacher at the studio for recreational classes. Her favorite part about being in the Miss Connecticut Organization is being able to make a difference in the community and work with children.
