Torrington Savings Bank awards it annual scholarships

TORRINGTON – Torrington Savings Bank has awarded its annual scholarship to two local students who are heading to college.

The two academic awards are 4-year, $10,000 scholarships ($2,500 per year), the bank said in a release.

Scholarship recipient Adam Ferrarotti will attend Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where he will major in industrial engineering, the release said. Ferrarotti was ranked eighth in his graduating class at Northwestern Regional High School with a GPA of 4.58, and was a member of the Model UN Club, Jazz Bank and the National Honor Society, the release said. He also participated in the cross country and track teams, math league and student government where he was elected class treasurer.

Scholarship recipient Brierley Lloyd will attend Suffolk University in Boston, where she plans to major in nutritional and health science, the release said. She graduated tenth in her class at Housatonic Valley Regional High School with a cumulative GPA of 4.06, the release said. She is a member of the National Honor Society, varsity basketball and junior varsity tennis teams and was elected class president in both her junior and senior years.
